Washington, DC—State and Federal Policy Internships
The SIECUS public policy office, located in Washington, DC, is committed to promoting comprehensive sexuality education and sexual and reproductive rights as well as fighting sexual ignorance, censorship, and discrimination based on gender, age, or sexual orientation.
SIECUS’ public policy office is offering the following unpaid internship opportunities for Fall 2010:
Interns can expect to work on a variety of projects, including researching, monitoring, and writing about current legislation and issues.
Prospective interns should be hard working, enthusiastic, and flexible individuals who seek a working knowledge of public policy, including issues such as sexuality education, prevention of unintended pregnancy, STDs, and HIV, sexual orientation, reproductive rights, and related issues. Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills are required. This is an unpaid internship. Students who require financial assistance may wish to contact their financial aid office or career center to determine if they qualify for applicable financial support. Housing is not provided, but information can be furnished outlining potential housing opportunities within the Washington, DC area. Begin and end dates are flexible. Part-time and full-time commitment possible: SIECUS’ hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Length of internship: Specific start and end dates are flexible, but interns must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week for no less than 3 months during the fall semester.
